Finding jobs and networking are crucial in college.  October 7 and 8, Mason will be hosting its biggest career fair yet to give students the opportunity to make connections with as many employers as possible.  There will be over 200 potential employers lined up representing various fields and industries to meet interested students.  The fair will be held in Dewberry Hall in the Johnson Center from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

“This is Mason’s biggest and most diverse career fair,” said Stephen Monroe, communications marketing coordinator for University Career Services. “The Career Fair is for all Mason students of all majors and class years, and we expect over 3,000 students to attend.”

There has been a huge demand from employers, so staff have increased the number of employers on each day of the fair from 90 to 116.  “Even with increased capacity we still have a waitlist of employers,” said Monroe. “Mason is a hot recruiting destination for employers in [the] Washington metropolitan area.”

How can students make a good impression?

Come dressed to impress: Fourth Estate suggests you dress in business casual, as if you were attending your first day on the job.

Research employers: Do some research on the companies you are interested in because employers love to see you already know about their company.

Come with a few printed resumes:  This way you can hand out copies to interested employers.

What are employers interested in knowing about you?

Be ready to talk about yourself — employers want to know what you can bring to the table. Prepare a mini elevator speech about some of your accomplishments in your college career so far.

Why is it important to attend?

It isn’t every day that employers come to you.  These companies are coming out to Mason just to scout out talented and interested individuals, so Fourth Estate suggests you take advantage of it.

This year there is even an app, Mounza, designed to help you stay ‘in the know.’ It will list all career fair related information, an employer attendee list and career fair maps.  To download Mounza,
