Open mic and poetry event highlighted student talent and engaged the audience in different cultural perspectives as a part of Hispanic Heritage Month.
This annual event took place in the JC Bistro on September 25. It included poetry, spoken word, dance, and other musical performances. Special Guest performer Mariposa, also known as María Teresa Fernández, shared some of her work as well as her background as a proud Afro-Latina.
The event was a collaborative project sponsored by Lambda Phi Chi Latin Sorority, Mariposas Mentoring Program, Latin American Studies, Women and Gender Studies and the Office of Diversity, Inclusion and Multicultural Education.
