29 Diner: If you’re looking for an old-school diner with great comfort food, look no further than 29 Diner. Opened in 1947, the diner offers both tasty food and an at-home feel to Fairfax residents — especially hungry Mason students.

Bombay Bistro: Whether you’re craving Indian food or want to try something new, Bombay Bistro near Fairfax Circle is the perfect (affordable) restaurant.

Fairfax Surf Shop: Check out this great spot for everything surf, skate and snow! Also, a historical shop in Fairfax — opened in 1976 — this store has everything a Mason student could need when it comes to outdoor adventures.

De Clieu Coffee & Sandwiches: There are many great places on campus to study, but if you want a change of scenery, De Clieu Coffee offers delicious eco-friendly coffee and free Wi-Fi! It is the perfect stop to work on a paper or have a conversation with a friend.

Room Escape Fairfax: One of the largest escape room venues in the area, Room Escape has an adventure for everyone. With rooms ranging from Molly’s Horror Room to Bowl Voyage, Room Escape is a great adventure to go on with your friends!

Fairfax Community Farmers Market: Open every weekend through October, this farmers market hosts a variety of local vendors. Whether you’re looking for jewelry or fresh fruits and vegetables, Fairfax Community Farmers Market is a great place to interact with Fairfax residents.

The Auld Shebeen: This restaurant offers traditional Irish recipes like shepherd’s pie, as well as their signature St. James Gate Guinness Beef Stew. The Auld Shebeen has two floors, with the lower one containing a dance floor set to a mix of traditional rock and modern music.

Epicure Café: This café frequently hosts the creative community of Fairfax. While enjoying a tasty signature pastry, you can experience a scheduled event basically every night of the week, such as Monday Jams or Thursday Open Mic Nights.

Van Dyck Park: This park offers everything. Here, you can find an exercise trail, a tennis court and a skate park. When you want to take a break from the campus environment, stop by Van Dyck Park and have a picnic or take in some nature on the trail.

Fairfax Museum: Whether you grew up in the area or across the country, the Fairfax Museum will surely teach you something new! The museum houses permanent and special exhibitions on both Fairfax City and Fairfax County while also offering walking tours of Old Town Fairfax.
