The second annual alumni drag show

Strutting down the runway, Mason’s drag stars show off their unique styles.

For two years, the Lambda chapter of the Mason Alumni Association has put on an amateur drag show to raise funds.

The Washington, D.C.  Ophelia Bottoms hosted the show, which included professional performers and members of the alumni chapter new to the stage.

“It’s just a great experience for alumni and students to have some lighthearted fun,” said Alex Gant, co-chair of the Lambda Alumni chapter.

The Lambda chapter also used the show to raise awareness for LGBT issues and students.

A portion of the event’s proceeds go towards a scholarship for a current LGBT student at Mason. Grant hopes the fund will be adequate within the next three years.

Students and alumni alike were entertained by the drag queens’ performances.

“They were so sassy and funny; everyone did such a great job,” alum Jacob Coleman said.

The performers lip-synced to popular songs and got the crown engaged in their dancing and hilarious antics.
