Mason reports a positivity rate of 0.9% among students

Entering the fourth week of the spring semester, Mason COVID-19 cases continue their downward trend from last week’s reports. This comes amid President Gregory Washington’s announcement of future COVID-19 policies, which includes the encouragement of vaccinations and a planned date on ending mask mandates on-campus.
According to the Mason COVID-19 dashboard, from Feb. 2 to Feb. 11, 5,197 students were tested, and among them, 48 tested positive. 4 faculty tested positive out of 694 tested. This is a positivity rate of 0.9% among students ando.6% among faculty.
As of Feb.16, in Fairfax County, an average of 210 residents a day are testing positive for COVID-19.
