MASON HAS 682 TEST POSITIVE FOR COVID-19 IN TWO WEEKS

4.6% of Mason students and staff test positive over the two weeks

As Mason begins their second week of the semester, positive COVID-19 cases begin to climb down for the first time this year. Mason currently has a campus indoor mask mandate and strongly encourages students, faculty and employees to be vaccinated, as well as the COVID-19 daily health check for students to participate in on-campus activities. 

According to the Mason COVID-19 dashboard, from Jan. 17 to Jan. 28, 495 students tested positive out of 10, 567 tested. 124 tested positive out of 4, 587 employees tested, leaving a 2.6% positivity rate for students and a 2% positivity rate among employees. 

In Fairfax County, an average of 674 residents a day are testing positive for COVID-19.
