Last Friday, the Mason Improv Association held its first performance of the year in the JC Bistro.
MIA’s entire performance was fantastic and hilarious. Though the scenes performed were not practiced beforehand, it was clear that an unbelievable amount of time, skill and dedication went into them.
MIA member Jesse Robinson said that the entire group “found the comedic moments” and was grateful for “a terrific, energetic Mason crowd that provided the appropriate amount of supporting energy.”
The turnout for the August performance was large and energetic, and the group hopes to have similar reactions in the future.
Mason alum and author of comedy book “Shit Rough Drafts,” Paul Laudiero founded MIA in 2010. Currently, there are around 8-10 performance team members in MIA, but auditions for new members will be held in September.
In addition to monthly performances in the JC Bistro, MIA will also hold several open “practice jams” this year in the Johnson Center.
MIA’s next show will be held on Friday, Sept.12.
