GMU-NOVA Chinese New Year Go Tournament
The GMU-NOVA Chinese New Year Go Tournament, a Chinese board game competition, is taking place Saturday, Feb. 27, with rounds starting at 9:30 a.m. The event will be at Mason’s Arlington campus at Founder’s Hall on the third floor. To register to play, you can either do so online at the link below or at the tournament location from 8:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. To get to the event, take the Orange Line to Virginia Square. Register here.
“Cloud 9”
Written by Caryl Churchill and directed by Madison Landis, “Cloud 9” will be showing Feb. 25-27 at 8 p.m. and Feb. 28 at 2 p.m. in TheatreSpace. First performed in 1979, “Cloud 9” follows diverse members of a Victorian English family over a number of years as they make their way from colonial Africa to London. Before the performance, you can take a special BuzzFeed quiz to find out which “Cloud 9” character you are. Mason students can get one free ticket with an ID.
Disney Fantasia: Live in Concert
Saturday, Feb. 27, at 8 p.m. Disney Fantasia: Live in Concert will be showing at Concert Hall on the Fairfax campus. The Czech National Symphony Orchestra, led by Ted Sperling, will accompany two beloved Disney films, Fantasia (1940) and its sequel Disney Fantasia 2000. Mason students can receive one free ticket with an ID for this performance.
Women’s Basketball
This Saturday, Feb. 27, the Women’s Basketball team will play George Washington University at 2 p.m. at EagleBank Arena. Come out to see the women’s last game before the Atlantic 10 Championships. Tickets are free with a Mason ID.
Off Campus
Rooting DC 2016
Rooting DC is an “all-day gardening forum,” that will take place Saturday, Feb. 27, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Wilson High School. The forum aims to educate people about growing sustainable food that’s also healthy and good for the city’s environment. There will be workshops, cooking demonstrations and panels on a variety of topics. The forum is free, though donations are accepted. You can also volunteer to help out with the event.
