Monday, April 18

  • Mass shootings are becoming more prominent in the U.S. with 119 so far this year, with two 17-year-olds being killed in Pittsburgh, PA, on the 17th.
  • IRS reminds people that it is Tax Day.

Tuesday, April 19

  • Florida Judge decides that, despite Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) extension of the airline mask mandate until May 3, the mask mandate is lifted and it is now up to individual airlines to decide on masking rules.
  • Twitter officials announce that they will not consent to being bought by Elon Musk and will fight the purchase.
  • Philadelphia, after easing COVID restrictions, now has to begin wearing masks again after a surge in cases.

Wednesday, April 20

  • Johnny Depp takes stand in defamation case against ex-wife Amber Heard at the Fairfax County Courthouse.
  • Biden Administration announces that they are taking action that will bring millions of people with student loan debt three years closer to paying off their loan.
  • An appeal to the removal of the mask mandate for travelers will be sought if the CDC decides it is still needed.

Thursday, April 21

  • South African floods have increased death toll due to the temporary housing of the residents near the river.
  • High inflation rates making return to offices expensive for workers, making it difficult for employers to return to the in-person office environment.
  • Netflix announces that it has lost millions of subscribers, more canceling than subscribing in the first three months of the year.

Friday, April 22

  • Florida lawmakers pass legislation that will dissolve the Disney Theme Parks special district status as of June 1 of this year.
  • Pushback against Biden’s repeal of Trump-era immigration laws are coming from more than 20 states.
  • CDC concerned over unexplained mass infections of Hepatitis in young children.
