Mason Police reported on Wednesday, April 22 for the third arson incident this semester, this time at Sandbridge Hall. There have also been two fires at Robinson Hall B on March 31 and April 1.
“On Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at 4:44 PM, an unknown person set fire to a trash can outside of Sandbridge Hall causing minor damage,” read the email.
No injuries were reported and according to the email, Mason Police think this may be related to the other two arsons. They are looking for information on a possible suspect from the April 1 fire.
“The suspect was described as a tall, thin, dark complexioned male with curly black hair, wearing a long sleeve blue shirt,” according to a Mason Police & Public Safety email sent on Wednesday afternoon.
The first fire was on March 31, Tuesday at 1:48 p.m.
“An unknown person set fire to a trash can in a second floor men’s restroom of Robinson Hall-B,” read the email.
The photos above show students and professors waiting outside during this time. The second fire was on April 1, Wednesday between 2-3 a.m. Again an unknown suspect started “a fire to debris” in the same men’s bathroom.
Both fires caused minimal damages and had no reported injuries. Fourth Estate reached out to Mason Police for a comment.
“Unfortunately, this case is under investigation so I cannot provide any information beyond what was released in the Timely Warning,” Assistant Chief of Police, Thomas Longo, said in an email.
But Longo did say that, “The [Robinson] fire was relatively small and quickly extinguished.”
