Luke Juday, a graduate student at the University of Virginia, has an excellent data visualization blog that covers a number of statewide topics ranging from economic activity to the geographic distribution of bars.

His most recent post resizes each locality by the size of its population. Fairfax County dominates with its over 1,000,000 residents.

Mason was originally created to serve an ever growing population in the Northern Virginia community. If anything, this is another indication of the need for a university in the region.
