Pumpkin spice season returns to Fairfax

The City of Fairfax’s Main Street was packed on Saturday, Oct.11, as the Fairfax Fall Festival returned for another year.
The air had that unmistakable crisp autumn feeling, filled with the smell of the festival’s roasted popcorn, apple cider and sweet treats. People of all ages wandered through the streets, stopping to check out booths, grab snacks and take in the sights of the festival.
Walking through downtown Fairfax, the energy was contagious. In the children’s area, kids were busy with pumpkin decorating, face painting and games. Nearby, the Fairfax City Volunteer Firefighters engaged with visitors, showing off equipment and answering questions about their work.
Food was dispersed throughout the event and presented in a wide variety of tasty options. Bruster’s Real Ice Cream and The Inside Scoop drew long lines of people eager for local ice cream. Other vendors like East India Kebabs, TK Grill and Kay’s Smoothies offered hot meals and seasonal favorites.
One of the highlights of the festival was the variety of local artisans. Little Foxy Designs had a booth full of handmade jewelry, while New Wing Studio showcased its creative tea towel pieces. Nadya’s Art Gallery had vibrant paintings that reflected the ongoing trends of today. Even Mason Athletics set up a booth encouraging kids to join the program and giving families a chance to connect with Mason’s sports initiatives.
Each booth had its own personality to offer with every artisan having their own story behind their expertise, making the festival almost double as an arts and crafts fair.
However, the festival wasn’t just filled with food and vendors. A main stage in the town square featured local musicians, including performances by the Fairfax High School Chorus, which added a pleasant soundtrack to the busy streets.
The Fall Festival isn’t just an event, it’s a Fairfax tradition. From the packed stretches of Main Street to the small details in the vendors’ booths, the day offered something for everyone.
Whether you came for the food, the art, the music or just to soak in the atmosphere, it was clear that once again the festival brought the community together to celebrate the season.
